Time has spiral shutters
They flap and I see it moving.
There is somebody I point to,
But I do not see.
It flaps violently, I see
It becomes a compass-
As I step ahead, it stops and slowly, opens like petals.
Quickly I turn back-
Now, I can see that ‘Somebody’.

Yeah, so often we see what lay ahead only when we look back. The only future we know for certain is the future of the past. At least that's how I take it!
Thanks Jose Angel, for making it a little understandable! But still there is more to it...
I take it a little differently.Someone or something or may it just be a moment, but I was so engulfed in the future, I ignored it when that "somebody" was in the presence. And now the "somebody" has past.
Sorry I'm naturally cynical in my outlook, but I love the poem
never mind, Kris! Time is a great Compass.
you did not miss anything in the past, 'Somebody'is stuck forever here because he/she/it(whatever it is) is Timeless. But,you will move in time and space to locate them(just behind you, maybe!)
The way I saw it
we were so absorbed in looking into the future....we didn't pay attention to the present
and by the time we did, the "present" has now travelled into the "past."
Nice perspective,Kris!I had forgotten that it's just a poem! :)
Ah, the vagaries of time! Love it! Made me think of my relationships!
I hope it did not make you sad...
i liked your "reply"(Time is a great Compass...) on Kris Ray's comment more than your "Consciousness"
